Optimizing Wi-Fi performance: channel selection and placement tips
Proper router placement and channel selection can dramatically improve your Wi-Fi performance.
Router Placement
Place your router centrally, elevated, and away from walls and metal objects. Avoid placing it in cabinets or behind furniture.
Channel Selection
Use a Wi-Fi analyzer app to find the least congested channels. For 2.4GHz, use channels 1, 6, or 11. For 5GHz, use any DFS channel if your router supports it.
Reducing Interference
Keep the router away from microwaves, cordless phones, and baby monitors.
